Canyoneering involves sliding, crawling, jumping, and often—depending on the height—rappelling down waterfalls. This time, we went to Woodward Creek in Washington State to experience this thrilling activity.
Woodward Creek is located in Washington, west of Hamilton Mountain. With a variety of small waterfalls, the creek itself is highly photogenic and features several natural pools perfect for swimming.
Sarah and Sean enjoying another world:
In total, we completed 8 rappels down different waterfalls ranging from 6 to 16 meters in height, with strong water flow beneath. I must admit the final waterfall was the most intimidating—the rocks were extremely slippery, and the terrain had never been explored before. I highly recommend wearing neoprene wetsuits and socks, as well as specialized canyoneering boots.
Incredible bags made by NÖR HEX Gear Co.
For this adventure, we used Gopro cameras and this amazing bag from NÖR HEX Gear Co, a small Portland-based company that makes climbing bags, koalas, GoPro cases, and specialized canyoneering packs. Highly durable and super recommended!
