On June 13, 2025, we opened the doors of the Loco por la Aventura Basecamp Mountaineering Center with a dream: to create a space where outdoor recreation, education, and community could come together under one roof.
One year later, that dream has become a reality beyond anything we could have imagined.
Today, we proudly celebrate the first anniversary of a space that has become much more than a gear store. It has become a second home for our community, a center for learning, a gathering place for adventurers, and a powerful tool for making outdoor experiences more accessible to everyone.
More Than a Store
From the very beginning, Basecamp was created with a purpose.
Yes, we offer an incredible selection of new and second-hand outdoor gear, clothing, footwear, climbing equipment, mountaineering gear, camping essentials, backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, and much more.
Yes, we rent specialized equipment such as crampons, ice axes, helmets, snowshoes, climbing gear, and other technical equipment that can often be financially out of reach for many people.
But what truly makes this place different is the impact behind every purchase.
Every dollar generated through our sales and rentals is reinvested directly into the mission of Loco por la Aventura, helping us provide free and low-cost outdoor programs, educational workshops, leadership opportunities, gear access, transportation support, and outdoor experiences for individuals and families who might otherwise never have the opportunity to participate.
When you shop at Basecamp, you are not simply buying equipment.
You are helping someone take their first hike.
You are helping a family experience camping for the first time.
You are helping build a more diverse, inclusive, and welcoming outdoor community.
A Year of Impact
Over the past year, the Basecamp Mountaineering Center has become a place where people come not only to buy gear but also to learn, connect, and grow.
Our founders and staff are passionate outdoor educators who believe that knowledge is just as important as equipment. That's why every person who walks through our doors receives guidance, education, and support—not just a sales transaction.
During our first year, we have:

Hosted more than 15 workshops and educational events directly at Basecamp.

Expanded our gear rental program to help make outdoor recreation more affordable and accessible.

Provided countless hours of outdoor education, mentorship, and technical guidance.

Created a welcoming community space where friendships, partnerships, and adventures begin.
Basecamp has become the heartbeat of our organization.
Within these walls, we have hosted workshops, social gatherings, certifications, planning meetings, community conversations, and celebrations. We have welcomed beginners taking their first steps into the outdoors and experienced adventurers preparing for their next challenge.
Most importantly, we have built a place where everyone belongs.
Celebrating Together
Although our official anniversary is June 13, we wanted to create something truly special to celebrate this milestone with the community that made it possible.

As proud as we are of our first year, we know this is only the beginning.
The vision that inspired the creation of Basecamp remains stronger than ever: a future where language, financial barriers, lack of equipment, or limited experience never prevent someone from experiencing the transformative power of the outdoors.
In our second year, we look forward to expanding our programs, offering new educational opportunities, growing our gear inventory, strengthening community partnerships, and continuing to create pathways for more people to connect with nature.
