The CMI QXDNFPA Quick Escape Device (QXD) is a revolutionary product that brings a new level of safety and effectiveness to personal escape devices. Designed with simplicity and intuitiveness in mind, the QXD is built to cater to our natural instincts when sliding down a rope.
When descending, our natural instinct is to squeeze the rope to slow down or stop our descent. Recognizing this instinct, we integrated it into the design of the QXD. Unlike other devices on the market, the QXD is specifically designed to be used with a gloved hand, ensuring that you can maintain a strong grip on the rope while still being able to squeeze and control your descent. This unique feature enhances safety, particularly under challenging conditions.
The QXD not only prioritizes user safety but also meets and exceeds the tests for the national fire protection association standard on fire service life safety rope and system components, specified in NFPA 1983-2006 edition. However, it is important to note that the device is not certified.
Crafted from high-quality 6061-T6 red anodized aluminum, the QXD is not only durable but also lightweight. Weighing just 117g (4oz), this device won't weigh you down during critical situations. With a length of 13.5cm (5 3/4") and a width of 7.5cm (1 3/4"), it offers compact portability without sacrificing functionality.
